Faculty Member, School of Nursing
About
I am chartered psychologist and a lecturer in the University of Ulster School of Nursing where I am Course Director for the MSc/Postgraduate Diploma in Palliative Care and the Associate Course Director for Health & Wellbeing. I am a member of the research Centre for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
I was awarded my MSc and PhD from Queens University Belfast where I was employed for several years as a Research fellow before beginning my career at Ulster in 2005.
My research work is chiefly concerned with the health and social care of vulnerable populations- in particular, children and young people. I have a developing research interest in altered states of consciousness such as hypnosis and sleep.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Outside of work, I have an historical interest in the paranormal experiences and experiments of the writers and artists of the Irish literary revival- exploring issues of liminality, creativity, dissociation, multiple personas, the practice of automatic writing (psychography) and hypnotic phenomena.
